I've made a simple style to make reading works on AO3 even easier than it already is (in my opinion, of course). You can choose the font type and size, the leading (vertical space between lines) the text alignment and the size of the side margins. I debated over adding text and background colors too but I feel these fit better with a full site skin. My style only applies to work text.

Note: Stylish is a Mozilla Firefox extension but it can also work with other browsers.

Forgive me for asking, but, since the AO3 has a native system to make skins and add them to the system, why choose an external solution?

That's about to change, actually - the next deploy includes major changes to the skinning system. It will still only be CSS, but you'll be able to layer skins on top of each other. There'll be a news post about it fairly soon.
