Ha, yes. Nabokov mocks the phenomenon in Pale Fire with a series of notes in which Kinbote rails against lazy authors who title their poems with famous lines from other poets, as if hoping to glean some of the talent from their poem's namesake. (Of course "Pale Fire" itself takes its title from Shakespeare)

I'm certainly an advocate of a broad definition of fannishness myself.
