Filtering subscriptions

I believe the answer to this question is "No" but I just thought I'd check; maybe I've missed a trick.

Is it true that you cannot apply filters to an RSS subscription? For example, I subscribe to fic tagged with a certain character and read that RSS feed. But I would prefer to get only the English-language entries in the feed (and, even better, only the ones within the originating fandom, so I don't get crossover fics). Is it possible to do that?

I use ifttt.com to do that. Ifttt allows you to subscribe to rss feeds and put a filter on them, for example "must include the phrase 'language: English'".

Interesting! Does that mean it creates a new filtered feed you can subscribe to here on DW? Or does that work in a different way?

There are very many different output methods, and they keep adding more. I've set up my filtered feeds to be emailed to me, but you can probably set it up as a new rss feed. I don't know for sure, since I haven't tried.

[personal profile] sarken did a walk through on how to use "if this, then that" for Ao3 feeds here http://ao3some.dreamwidth.org/7543.html
